WILLMAR -- St. Cloud Tech bolted away from Willmar in the final four minutes of the second period and went on to knock the Cardinals off their skates 6-1 on Friday in a Central Lakes Conference boys hockey.
The Tigers (4-1, 7-4) led 3-1 when Jon Green scored on a powerplay at 13:27 of the middle period. Only 1:17 later, Austin Ciccati scored for a 5-1 lead.
The third frame also started badly with Brandon Reinholtz scoring with the period only eight seconds old.
Willmar (1-5, 4-7) was outshot 35-15 and 14-1 in the final frame.
Liam Johnston, with an assist to Trent Fader, made it 2-1 at 11:52 of the first. Ben Leitch played two periods in net and Keifer Dahle the third.
