Boys Soccer: Willmar ends Alexandria road jinx, 5-2

ALEXANDRIA -- The Willmar boys soccer team beat Alexandria on the road for the first time in school history, 5-2, in Central Lakes Conference action Tuesday.

ALEXANDRIA -- The Willmar boys soccer team beat Alexandria on the road for the first time in school history, 5-2, in Central Lakes Conference action Tuesday.

Willmar (2-0, 2-1) dominated the first half, scoring four goals in a 12-minute span and ending the first half with a 5-0 lead.

"We passed the ball well and crossed the ball well," said Willmar coach Richard Courtney. "We had a couple of great finishes by Eddie Dominguez and playmaking by Abshir Ahmed and Abdinasir Abdi."

Liam Johnston opened the scoring for Willmar with just under five minutes gone in the match, then Dominguez found the net twice in less than six minutes.

Chris Van Dorn added a goal in the 36th minute and James Neis finished Willmar's scoring 90 seconds later.

Abdi and Ahmed had two assists each.
