WILLMAR -- Central Lakes Conference leader St. Cloud Apollo (4-0, 5-2) used its superior speed and skill to take a 3-0 lead in the first 30 minutes and settle for a 3-1 win over Willmar at Kennedy Field on Thursday.
"We weren't ready to play when we came out and Apollo is the best team we've seen," said Willmar coach Richard Courtney. "We played much better the second half but couldn't knock one in to get it close again."
Abdi Abdinasir, from James Neis, accounted for the Willmar score.
Willmar (3-3, 4-4), which has lost three straight, was outshot 16-5. The play of sweeper Josh Wright and goalkeeper Steve Kluver prevented the score from getting out of hand.
