WILLMAR -- Willmar rebounded from its first Central Lakes Conference loss Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Brainerd in boys soccer action Thursday.
After allowing seven goals to Fergus Falls, the Cardinals' defense limited most scoring chances for the Warriors in the shutout.
After a scoreless first half, Willmar (7-1, 9-2) went nearly 20 minutes into the second before scoring. Ferdi Guerrero nailed a free kick in the 64th minute to put the Cardinals in the lead.
Goalie Danny King kept Brainerd under control, recording eight saves. Willmar had 14 shots on goal.
