Bus routes canceled today for some KMS students due to truck-train crash

KERKHOVEN - The crash of a train and an anhydrous ammonia tanker truck near Murdock this morning has led KMS school officials to cancel some bus routes for students.

KERKHOVEN - The crash of a train and an anhydrous ammonia tanker truck near Murdock this morning has led KMS school officials to cancel some bus routes for students.

The district will end the school day today at the usual time.

But officials announced this noon that there will no bus transportation today for students who live west of Swift County Road 33, including in the city of Murdock. Parents of students living in these areas have been asked to pick up their children at KMS High School in Kerkhoven, where Murdock Elementary students and staff were evacuated this morning.

Bus transportation will be available at the usual time for all other students, from prekindergarten through grade 12, at KMS High School.

Parents who have questions are asked to call the KMS High School at 320-264-1411.

The crash, which happened Tuesday morning at a railroad crossing between Murdock and DeGraff, injured four people and released a small amount of anyhdrous ammonia. Murdock preschool and elementary students and staff were evacuated from the school as a precaution.
