Tribune names new pressroom manager

WILLMAR -- Andy Kahmann has been named the new pressroom manager for the West Central Tribune. He took over the position in January.

He brings nearly 40 years of experience in printing, starting as a high school student, when he learned the letterpress trade at the Bird Island Union.

He moved to Montevideo in 1973 to work at Western Printers, a central offset web printing plant. He was manager and part owner until 1993, and continued to work as manager until 2000.

In 2000 he opened A to Z Letterpress Printing in Montevideo, where he works with local and area artists to print hand-printed cards using linoleum block prints. Through the Milan Village Arts School he has taught classes in printmaking at his shop. He also worked part time doing screen printing at Neon Needles in Monte-video.

He began working part time in the West Central Tribune pressroom in August of 2005. He lives in rural Montevideo.

Salzer named general manager for MinnWest

WILLMAR -- Steven Salzer was named the general manager of the MinnWest Technology Campus on Dec. 5.

Salzer has a bachelor's degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and management from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.

He will be responsible for all aspects of managing the technology campus, including building renovations, grounds and facility maintenance, and the property management activities of leasing space to technology-related firms.

Swenson joins Hansen Advertising

WILLMAR -- Katie Swenson has joined Hansen Advertising Inc. in Willmar as a promotional marketing consultant.

She will assist clients with promotional products and programs for their business needs.

She lives near Willmar with her husband, Loren, and their two daughters.

MPCA fines two in Montevideo

MONTEVIDEO -- Tostenson's and Minnesota Army National Guard Montevideo Training and Community Center were fined $1,313 for multimedia violations by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in the fourth quarter of 2005.

A multimedia violation is "an accumulation of hazardous wastes not properly disposed of."
