BROOTEN -- Carl Arthur Kjeldahl, 88, of Brooten died Wednesday at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
He was born April 6, 1919, to Julius and Emma (Moen) Kjeldahl. They lived in Brooten until 1924, when they moved to the farm in North Fork township. He attended country school at District 109, known as the Gulsvig School. He graduated from eighth grade on July 1, 1932. He farmed with his father during the depression years of the 1930's.

He married Marjorie Henke in 1968. They divorced. He farmed with his brother until semi-retirement in the 1980's. They also did custom work for many area farmers; including corn shelling, combining and grain hauling.
He was a lifetime member at the Big Grove Lutheran Church.
He is survived by one son: Bradley (and Karrie) of Willmar; two sisters: Norma (and Russell) Sondrol of Crystal, Viola Lee of Minneapolis; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, six brothers and four grandchildren.
