WILLMAR -- Charles Leonard Pearson, 86, of Willmar died Wednesday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Willmar. Inurnment is at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.

Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and West Central Cremation Service in Willmar.

He was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Sac City, Iowa, to Alfred and Emilie (Swanson) Pearson. He grew up in the Hector area and graduated from Hector High School in 1936.

He married Elaine Penkert on Nov. 23, 1944, in Hector. They lived in Hector and then moved to Willmar. He worked as a salesman for Broderius Electric, Electrolux Vacuums, L.M. Berry Company and American Republic Insurance Company. He retired after 56 years. Elaine died in January.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Willmar where he helped organize the ushers, taught Sunday school, and served on the missions committee and in other areas. He was a member of the Mason's, CCC, Shriners, DFL and Hector Lodge.

He is survived by his children: Sherry (and Doug) Barron of Orlando, Fla., Scott (and Joan) Pearson of Ft. Collins, Colo., Jan Pearson of Baton Rouge, La., Tracey (and Mark) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister: Ellen Benson of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his wife and six siblings.
