Carlson, Notre Dame face No. 1 USC today

John Carlson, a Notre Dame redshirt sophomore tight end from Litchfield, will play in the biggest game of his collegiate career Saturday when the ninth-ranked Fighting Irish host top-ranked Southern California at Notre Dame Stadium.

John Carlson, a Notre Dame redshirt sophomore tight end from Litchfield, will play in the biggest game of his collegiate career Saturday when the ninth-ranked Fighting Irish host top-ranked Southern California at Notre Dame Stadium.

Carlson has caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown this season. He has seen significant playing time, mostly as a blocking tight end, and also on special teams.

NBC will televise the 1:30 p.m. game.
