OLIVIA -- Carolyn Klecker, 96, of Olivia died Friday at the Golden Living Center in Olivia.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia, and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 1, 1910, to Henry and Katherine (Weber) Brenner. She spent most of her early childhood in Maywood, Ill., and the family moved to the Renville County area in 1917. She attended country school south of Buffalo Lake and later attended school in town.

She married Clarence Frank Klecker on April 16, 1934, in Bird Island. They lived in Wisconsin, south of Bird Island and north of Olivia before settling in Olivia in 1946. Over the years Carolyn worked at the Olivia Canning Company and at the Clock Café. She managed the lunch program at St. Aloysius School for many years and did catering for weddings and other events and at the Olivia Golf Club, retiring in 1973.

She is survived by five children: Eldean (and Bill) Tingerthal of Woodbury, James (and Nancy) Klecker of Excelsior, Jack (and Connie) Klecker of Menahga, Mary (and Dale) Hillman of Hector and Carole Klecker of Eagan; a son-in-law: Gene Karel of Burnsville; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three brothers: William Brenner of Spring Valley, Calif., Henry Brenner of Mesa, Ariz., and Victor Brenner of Punta Gorda Isles, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Shirley Karel; one great-grandchild; and four sisters.
