OLIVIA -- Catherine Magdalen Petsinger, 89, of Olivia died Sunday at the Olivia Healthcare Center.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

She was born Dec. 15, 1916, in Seaforth to Michael and Lena (Kroy) Kerby. She graduated from Redwood County Schools and then attended secretarial school in Wabasso.

She married Vernon Petsinger on April 19, 1938, in Redwood Falls. They lived in Morton for 42 years and owned and operated Vern's Café. They moved to Olivia in 1996. Vern died in 2002.

She was a member of the Senior Citizens in Morton, St. John's Catholic Church and the CCW, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She is survived by six children: Joan (and Gene) Blumberg of Park Rapids, Carol Hopp of Olivia, Barbara (and Jim) Frank of Olivia, Duane (and Sylvia) Petsinger of Appleton, Wis., Ronald (and Nene) Petsinger of Lakeville, Gerald (and Isabelle) Petsinger of Ellendale; son-in-law: Roger Redpath of Wayzata; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings: Mary Lewis and Francis Kerby, both of Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter: Janet Redpath; son-in-law: Robert Hopp; two grandson; two brothers and two sisters.
