Celestine S. 'Sal' Schirmers

WILLMAR -- Celestine Stephen "Sal" Schirmers, 82, of Willmar died Sunday at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Buckman to Stephen and Maria (Schmidt) Schirmers. He grew up on a farm near Buckman, attended country school and helped on the family farm.
He married Marcella "Sally" Zuleger on Aug. 17, 1946, in St. Paul. They lived in St. Paul, Willmar, Bainbridge, Ga., and Red Lake Falls. He owned and operated the Edge of Town Motel in Willmar from 1969 to 1972. They returned to Willmar in 1980, and he was co-owner of the Liquor Mart in downtown Willmar. He retired in 2000. Sally died June 5, 2006.
He was a member of the Church of St. Mary in Willmar, where he was active in the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher.
He is survived by his sons: Terry Schirmers, Rick (and Lynnette) Schirmers, all of Willmar; two grandchildren; and three siblings: Theodora Zuleger of Chicago, Loretta LaHay of Minneapolis and Leo (and Angeline) Schirmers of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and one brother.
