In an all-Minnesota final Central Lakes College of Brainerd defeated Willmar College of Willmar 28-30, 30-22,31-29, 31-29, for the NJCAA Division III national volleyball title on Saturday at Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minn.
Ridgewater was the defending national champion. It was the first loss by the Lady Warriors (33-9) to a Division III school all season. The Lady Warriors had defeated Central Lakes in five games at Willmar in the MCCC championship.
Ridgewater defeated Brookhaven College of Farmers Branch, Texas, in the semifinals and Central Lakes beat Edison Community College; of Piqua, Ohio.
