WILLMAR - The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for much of central and southern Minnesota from Tuesday afternoon to evening.
The hot and breezy weather conditions, with highs from the mid-80s to mid-90s, winds from 15 to 25 mph and low humidity, may result in dangerous wildfire conditions.
While much of Minnesota is in the fire weather watch, all of North Dakota and central and northeastern South Dakota are in red flag warning for the same period. Southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa are also in the fire weather watch.
The local forecast for Willmar includes a high of 77 degrees today, with winds from 15 to 20 mph. Tonight’s low will be 54 degrees. Tuesday’s high temperature is expected to be 89 degrees, with winds from 15 to 25 mph and gusts to 35 mph.
Humidity levels are expected to be around 20 percent.

On Wednesday, temperatures return to a high of around 74 degrees, accompanied by 10 mph winds.
According to the Weather Service, a red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible.
Citizens are urged to listen for later forecasts.
