MOORHEAD - Murder charges against a 16-year-old Moorhead boy who claimed to have killed a man who he said was molesting him for years have been dismissed.
Court records show Clay County Attorney Brian Melton dismissed both first- and second-degree murder charges Thursday against Zachary Daniel St. Claire, 16, who stood accused of both charges in Clay County District Court.
Court documents say St. Claire confessed to killing 55-year-old Bradley Carrington in a north Moorhead mobile home because Carrington had been sexually abusing him for several years.
The boy later allegedly admitted to investigators he lied to protect his brother, Anthony Lee Rodriguez, 20, of Fargo.
Rodriguez is charged with second-degree murder.
