MORRIS -- Charles Jacob Schmidt, 90, of Morris died Saturday at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church today. Arrangements are with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.
He was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Morris to Henry and Mary (Van Kempen) Schmidt. He attended school and then farmed in Hodges Township in Stevens County.

He married Irene Powers on Sept. 20, 1939, in Morris. They farmed in Stevens County. Irene died in 2002. He moved to Skyview Court in Morris in 1997.
He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He was a charter member of the Minnesota Flying Farmers and the International Flying Farmers, and served as president for both organizations. He was also a member of the Prairie Pioneer Sams RV Camping Chapter.
He is survived by his children: John (and Donna) Schmidt of Knoxville, Tenn., Patricia (and Paul) Brandt of Bloomington, Ill., Richard (and Priscilla) Schmidt of Riverdale, Ga., Thomas (and Sandy) Schmidt of Shakopee, Gary (and Nancy) Schmidt of Marshall, Kenneth (and Sherry) Schmidt of Hendersonville, N.C., Donald Schmidt of Morris, Rebecca (and Chuck) Johnson of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings: Rose (and Manley) Anderson of Morris, Marg (and Doug) Garberick of El Cajon, Calif., Francis (and Madelyn) Schmidt of Morris, Henry (and Lucille) Schmidt Jr. of Columbia Heights, Albert (and Beverley) Schmidt and Jerry (and Sylvia) Schmidt, all of Morris.
He was preceded in death by his wife; infant daughter: Sharon; two grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters.
