BIRD ISLAND -- Charles Lee 'Chuck' Ryan, 42, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Bird Island, died Wednesday.

The service will be at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born April 18, 1963, in Olivia to John and Mary Lou (Schablin) Ryan. He grew up in Bird Island and graduated from Bird Island High. He received degrees in meteorology from Air Force Community College and business management from Peru State. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1982 to 1991. He received multiple Air Force commendation medals, an Army commendation medal for his service with the Army Special Forces while stationed in Germany, an Air Force meritorious service medal and numerous awards and recognition for his support of special operations missions; including missions up to the presidential support level. During his time in the Air Force Chuck also volunteered for the Air Force Honor Guard.

He married Charlene Campisi on Sept. 3, 1993. They lived in Omaha, Neb., and then moved to Las Vegas in 2001. He owned Patriot Home Inspection Service.

He is survived by his wife; children: John (and Sabrina) Campisi Jr., Anna-Marie Campisi, Christopher (and Amber) Campisi, Jennifer Campisi; three grandchildren; his mother; and his siblings: Dorothy (and Lance) Anderson, Pauline (and Ronald) Manderschied, Mike (and Bev) Ryan, James (and Joan) Ryan, Robert Ryan, Patsy (and Glenn) Youngkrantz and Dennis (and Hyong) Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his father.
