A 65-year-old Clara City man has been identified as the person who was killed Monday afternoon after he was run over by a combine near Maynard in Wang Township.
Eugene Leroy Schwitters was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the Renville County Sheriff's Office.
The preliminary investigation shows that Schwitters was approaching the rear of the combine unbeknownst to the driver and was run over by the rear wheels.
The farm accident occurred on 120th Street, about a half-mile south of the Chippewa/Renville Line and one mile southeast of Maynard.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Maynard First Responders and Clara City Ambulance.
