GLENWOOD -- Clara Emelie Nelson, 100, of Glenwood, died Thursday at Glenwood Retirement Village
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Chapel in Glenwood Retirement Village. Inurnment will be at a later date in Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery in Perley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the chapel.

She was born June 13, 1908, near Perley to Christian and Anna (Nordvie) Hansen. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1927.
She married Bennie Nelson on June 18, 1928. They lived on the family farm in rural Perley. They farmed until the fall of 1988, when they moved to Moorhead. During retirement they wintered in Arizona from 1974 to 1988. Bennie died in December 1988. She moved to Glenwood in 1991. She lived in Ridgewood Villa until 2006 when she moved to the Glenwood Retirement Village.
She was a member of Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley and Glenwood Lutheran Church. She wrote about her life in the Red River Valley, and many of her writings have been compiled into a book. Over the years she was active in Ladies Aid, Community Club, 4-H and other volunteer groups.
She is survived by her children: Duane (and Betty Ann) Nelson of Kimberly, Wis., Joyce (and Eugene) Ganung of Eugene, Ore., Lyle (and Carolyn) Nelson of Mission Hill, S.D., Caryl (and Paul Ranum) Nelson of Glenwood and John Nelson of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by a son-in-law: C. David Nelson.
