GRANITE FALLS -- Clarence Nordang, 88, of Granite Falls died Friday at the Granite Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
He was born April 12, 1919, in Sioux Agency Township, rural Echo, to Peter and Inger (Ostenson) Nordang. He attended country school, earned his GED and attended bricklayer's school to become a mason. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps as a teen and served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre on the U.S.S. Fayette, taking part in many operations including Iwo Jima.

He married Orpha Ann Hogsven on Sept. 10, 1943, in Granite Falls. He worked most of his life in building construction and later worked for the Yellow Medicine Highway Department for 11 years.
He was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church and assisted in making wooden baptismal chests for the church. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the BAC Bricklayers Union for many years.
He is survived by his wife; children: Doug (and Linda) Nordang, Karen (and Michael) Metcalf, and Donna Nordang; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister: May (and George) Barber; and brother: Marvin (and Beverly) Nordang.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and by five sisters, including two infant sisters.
