WILLMAR - Assistant Kandiyohi County Attorney Shane Baker will be recommended for the job as the county’s top legal adviser and prosecutor.
A committee interviewed three finalists for the job of Kandiyohi County Attorney earlier this week and will recommend that the County Board appoint Baker to replace Jenna Fischer, who was sworn in as a new District 8 judge last week after resigning as county attorney.
The County Board will take action on the appointment Tuesday morning.
Kandiyohi County Administrator Larry Kleindl said three individuals filed for the job.
All three currently work in the county attorney’s office. They include Baker, Dain Olson and Stephen Wentzell.

An interview committee made up of Kleindl, Kandiyohi County Commissioners Roger Imdieke and Jim Butterfield, Sheriff Dan Hartog, Community Corrections Director Deb West, Health and Human Services Director Ann Stehn and Human Resources Director Lynn Travaglio conducted the interviews on Tuesday.
Kleindl said the committee will recommend that Baker be appointed as the next county attorney.
Whoever is appointed will serve the remainder of Fischer’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2014. The appointee could file for re-election next November and seek the position for another four years.
