WOOD LAKE -- Conrad Nicolai Schwartz, 95, of Wood Lake died Tuesday at Granite Manor in Granite Falls.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso.
He was born May 26, 1910, in Echo Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Henry and Anna (Hoepner) Schwartz. He grew up in Posen Township and attended Posen Country School District 62, St. Luke's Parochial School and Cottonwood Public School.

He married Elizabeth Schroeder on Sept. 19, 1934, in Granite Falls. They lived and farmed east of Wood Lake until 1976, when they moved into Wood Lake. He moved to Fieldcrest in Cottonwood in July of 2003, and entered the Granite Manor on Monday.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake and served as an elder, trustee and chairman of the congregation for many years. He also served on the Wood Lake Public School Board and the Wood Lake Centennial Committee.
He is survived by his children; Lois (and Leland) Bruss of Roseville, Arvid (and Judy) Schwartz of Green Isle, Sharon (and Kenneth) Ebert of Cannon Falls, Jerome Schwartz of Wood Lake; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Ludwig (and Elizabeth) Schwartz of Sun City, Ariz., and Walter Schwartz of Granite Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2000; five brothers and one sister.
