Blomkest Sportsmen's Club Fish Fry -- The Blomkest Sportsmen's Club will be holding a fish fry from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 at the Blomkest Community Center. The cost is $8 per person.

CURE Annual Meeting -- The 17th Annual CURE Meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 from 5-10 p.m. at the Hollywood Theater on Main Street in Montevideo. Keynote speakers will be Dr. Carrie Jennings and Dr. Shawn Schottler, Rock Star Sediment Scientists with their presentation "The Real Dirt on the Minnesota River". The cost is $20 per person, which includes the meal and all entertainment. Students are admitted for free, but must pre-register. CURE Bridge Builder Gathering -- CURE is hosting a seminar on "Industrial Sustainable Agriculture: Can We Integrate Large Scale Production and Natural Resource Management" on Thursday, March 26 from 7-9 p.m. at the Kilowatt Center in Granite Falls. Minnesota Official Measurers Trophy Measuring -- Representatives of the Minnesota Official Measurers will be scoring trophy deer at Mel's Sport Shop in Spicer on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

There is no cost to measure a rack unless the individual wants to enter their buck in a respective record book. A rack or shed can be entered in the following record books: Minnesota Deer Classic, Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Pope & Young, Boone & Crockett.

The cost to enter a rack is $15 prior to Feb. 1. The cost to enter a rack at the day of the Minnesota Deer Classic, the showcase for the record book, is $20. For more information, contact Mel's Sport Shop at 320-796-2000 or Bill Pfingsten at 320-796-6990.

Kandiyohi County Pheasants Forever Chapter #2 meetings -- The Kandiyohi County Pheasants Forever Chapter #2 will hold general meetings leading up to its banquet on April 3, 2009, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Willmar. The meetings will be held at the Kandiyohi Entertainment Center in Willmar at 7 p.m. on the following dates: Jan. 26, Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 2, March 9, March 23 and March 30.

Prairie Woods ELC

The following activities are offered by Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center. Register by calling PWELC, 354-5894 or e-mail at pwelc@wecnet.com . Discount available on all classes for members.

Open Climbing -- Indoor rock climbing wall. Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon. Reservations required, please call by Thursday.

The Interpretive Center is open daily. All Sibley State park programs are lead by the park naturalist or visiting expert. They are at the Interpretive Center and are free unless otherwise noted. A vehicle permit is required to enter the park and they are available at the park office. For more information call 354-2002.

Winter trails: Nordic skiing and snowmobile trails are groomed, weather permitting. The trail center in the lower level of the Interpretive Center is open 24 hours a day. There is a warming room, bathrooms and water fountain. A cross country ski pass is required for age 16 and older.

Snowshoe hike: 2 p.m. Jan. 24 and 31; Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28, weather permitting. Following a brief talk on snowshoe design, manufacture styles and use, a naturalist will lead a walk. Snowshoes will be provided to the first 20 people, 12 years of age and older, who call for reservations, 320-354-2055.

Fiddlers "jam" session: 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25. Join the Coffee Shop Fiddlers in the Interpretive Center as they have a little fun practicing and playing fiddle music.

Cross country ski trail grooming equipment display: 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1. A Sibley State Park employee will answer questions about the ski trail grooming equipment which will be on display and the technique involved in grooming trails.

Moonlight snowshoe hike: 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, weather permitting. Enjoy an evening of snowshoeing under the light of the moon with a guide leading the walk. Snowshoes will be provided to the first 20 people, 12 years of age and older, who call for reservations, 354-2002 or 354-2055. If you have your own snowshoes you are also welcome on the hike. May be cancelled due to clouds.
