WILLMAR - A hearing on a proposed new countywide smoke-free ordinance will be held by the Kandiyohi County Board of Commissioners at its meeting this coming week.
The board meets at 10 a.m. in the board room at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building.
The hearing on the smoke-free ordinance is set for 11:15 a.m.
The draft ordinance follows the provisions of state statutes and includes additional provisions that would set a minimum distance for smoke-free zones outside the entrance of public buildings and places of work. It also adds electronic cigarettes to the definition of "smoking" and would prohibit sampling inside tobacco shops.
Also on the agenda Tuesday are consideration of conditional use permit applications, action on waste delivery agreements with West Central Sanitation and Miller Sanitation, and a report from Central Minnesota Jobs and Training.
