HAWICK -- The heads of six cows were found in a ditch late Wednesday morning in rural Hawick, according to a Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department report.
A man on his way to work reported seeing four cow heads in the ditch near his driveway in the 14000 block of 210th Avenue Northeast, according to a Sheriff's Department report. He thought they had been left there sometime overnight, the report said.
The Sheriff's Department found there were actually six cow heads discarded in the ditch, according to the report.
The department has not received any reports of missing cows, Sheriff Dan Hartog said.
At this point, discarding the cow heads is littering, Hartog said. Other crimes could be discovered later, such as cruelty to animals, depending on what the department finds in its investigation, he said.

"It's not good," Hartog said.
No further information was available Thursday night.
