Crash injures two west of New London

NEW LONDON -- Two people were injured in a two-vehicle, broadside-type accident Saturday night west of New London.

The accident was reported at 8:49 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Kandiyohi County Road 40.

According to the State Patrol a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Tyler Green, 17, of Cold Spring, was going west on County Road 40, failed to yield, and collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Impala driven by Shawna Loge, 26, of Spicer. Loge was traveling north on Highway 71 at the time of the accident.

Loge and a passenger, Emilio Florez, 40, of Willmar, were taken to Rice Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening-injuries. A second passenger, an infant named Starla Gomez, was not injured.

Green and a passenger in his vehicle, Nicolas Barney, 16, of New London, were not injured.

Alcohol was not detected, according to the State Patrol report.
