PAYNESVILLE -- A 35-year-old Litchfield man was seriously injured in a van/motorcycle crash shortly after noon Monday in Stearns County.
According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a van driven by Alyce M. Drimel, 73, of Paynesville was traveling south over Highway 55 and onto Stearns County Road 181 near Paynesville. The van pulled out in front of a westbound motorcycle driven by Charles T. Chastek, 35, of Litchfield, according to the report.
Drimel was uninjured. Chastek was airlifted from Paynesville Area Hospital to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with head injuries and was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon. Chastek was not wearing a helmet, according to the State Patrol.
The Paynesville Police Department and the Stearns County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
