GROVE CITY -- A car crashed into a field early Thursday morning just south of Grove City along 545th Avenue, killing one man and injuring another.
Douglas Richard Andrews, 28, of St. Cloud was killed after he and Damon Lance Remmel, 34, of Grove City were both thrown from the 1987 Ford Mustang they were riding in.
According to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff's Office Monday, Remmel lost control of the car along 545th Avenue and rolled into the west ditch, throwing both the men from the vehicle. The crash scene was found by a Meeker County Sheriff's Deputy around 12:40 a.m.
Andrews was initially transported to Meeker County Memorial Hospital and later transported to St. Cloud Hospital where he died. Remmel was taken to Meeker County Memorial, treated and released. He was then arrested for a parole violation.
The Grove City Fire Department, Grove City Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance and Atwater Ambulance assisted at the scene. The Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the incident.
