PAYNESVILLE – A Paynesville man was injured Thursday night when his vehicle collided with a semi on state Highway 23 in Paynesville.

The accident was reported at 8 p.m. on state Highway 23 at Lake Avenue north.

According to the State Patrol, Vehicle a 2016 Peterbuilt semi driven by Lesley Kevin Linn, 61, of Glenwood, was going west on Highway 23 when a 2010 Ford Pickup driven by Jacob Elmo Schmitz, 41, of Paynesville failed to yield for the semi while attempting to cross the westbound lanes of the highway at Lake Avenue North.

Schmitz was taken to the Paynesville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Linn was not injured.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the accident.

The Paynesville Police Department assisted at the scene.
