Crashes in Chippewa, Renville counties cause injuries Saturday morning

Two motor vehicle crashes in the area Saturday morning resulted in injuries, according to reports from the Minnesota State Patrol.

A two-vehicle crash at 9:16 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and 70th Street Southeast in Stoneham Township, Chippewa County, resulted in injuries to one of the drivers.The names of the drivers had not been released Saturday afternoon.

A Ford pickup and a Pontiac Grand Prix collided at the intersection, according to the State Patrol report. The pickup was westbound on 70th Street and stopped before moving onto Highway 23. The Pontiac was moving south on Highway 23.

The driver of the Pontiac was transported to Granite Falls Hospital and transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center.

According to the State Patrol report, the driver of the pickup was a juvenile, and the name will not be released due to pending charges.

Several people were transported to Granite Falls Hospital after a single-vehicle rollover at 11:16 a.m. on Highway 212 near Renville County Road 10 in Hawk Creek Township. A 2016 Ford Transit van was westbound on Highway 212 when it hit a patch of ice, went out of control and rolled over in the south ditch, according to the State Patrol report.

The van came to rest on its roof. The occupants were taken to Granite Falls Hospital. One passenger had a minor injury, and the others were treated and released. The report did not identify the driver or passengers Saturday afternoon.
