GARVIN — Two people were injured Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash along U.S. Highway 59 south of Garvin in southern Lyon County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol report, the car was southbound on Highway 59 and attempting to pass a semi when the driver lost control, entered the ditch and rolled.

Driver Theodore Scott Swanson, 41, of Marshall, and passenger Marissa Elvira Mares, 27, of Granite Falls, were transported to Tracy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the report, Swanson was wearing a seat belt, but Mares was not. Alcohol is not considered a factor.

Weapons complaint

WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office received a report Saturday night of automatic weapon fire from a vehicle in the 3500 block of 75th Street Southwest in St. John's Township.

Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle, but they did find rifle casings on the road. A thermal imaging camera was used to look at a nearby field, and three spent casings were logged in as evidence.


NEW LONDON — A Honda generator was reported stolen from a trailer in the 8440 block of 187th Avenue Northeast east of New London. The theft was reported shortly after noon Sunday.
