Armed robbery reported in Kandiyohi

KANDIYOHI — The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery reported Tuesday night at a home in Kandiyohi.

At around 10:20 p.m. law enforcement received a report of a possible robbery in progress at a home in the 200 block of Fifth Street South.

According to the Sheriff's Office, three individuals — including one with a handgun — entered the home and took undisclosed property.

No one was injured in the incident.

The three individuals were gone by the time law enforcement arrived, according to a news release issued Wednesday by Sheriff Dan Hartog.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the robbery report. The Willmar Police Department and the State Patrol assisted at the scene.

Bicyclist struck by car

WILLMAR — A bicyclist was injured when he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday at the intersection Civic Center Drive and Lakeland Drive Northeast.

According to an accident report filed with the Willmar Police Department, Cooper Wiese, 18, of Clearwater, was attempting to cross Civic Center Drive in the crosswalk when he was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet SUV driven by Sheila Sarah Hood, 60, of Willmar, that was going east on Civic Center Drive.

The SUV was traveling 25 to 30 mph, according to the report.

Wiese landed about 10 to 15 feet east of the crosswalk on Civic Center Drive and had injuries to his legs and abdomen.

He was taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

According to the report, Wiese was wearing a helmet and a reflective vest at the time of the accident.

No citations were issued.

Construction zone crash injures one

LITCHFIELD — A three-vehicle crash Wednesday in a construction zone in Meeker County sent one woman to the hospital.

The accident was reported at 10:45 a.m. on state Highway 22 and 300th Street, north of Litchfield.

According to the State Patrol, a 2002 Buick LeSabre, driven by Orwynn Lee Miller, 19, of Jerico Springs, Missouri, and a 2013 Toyota Highlander driven by Patrick Thomas Cleary, 66, of Spicer, were stopped by a flag person in a construction zone.

A 2018 Ford Focus, driven by Judith Marie Groskreutz, 66, of Litchfield, rear-ended the Toyota Highlander, which then struck the Buick LeSabre in a chain-reaction crash.

Groskreutz was transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

The other two drivers were not injured.
