Two injured in separate watercraft incidents

LITCHFIELD — Two people were injured in two separate watercraft incidents in Meeker County over the Labor Day weekend.

According to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, a jet ski driven by Cole Stuedeman, 16, of Plato, collided with a boat driven by Roman Bloemke, 44, of Hutchinson.

The incident, which is under investigation, happened around 6:44 p.m. on Lake Manuella, in Ellsworth Township southeast of Litchfield.

Stuedeman was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield by family members for treatment for a non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The jet ski and boat both sustained moderate damage.

The second incident was reported at 4:32 p.m. Monday on Lake Francis, in Kingston Township, when a boat driven by Jeremy Dahlen, 46, of Clear Lake, rolled on its side and a passenger was injured.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the boat was pulling tubers and the line became slack and then snapped tight, which caused the boat to roll.

A passenger, Maddelyn Dahlen, 19, of Clear Lake, was thrown into the back of the boat. She was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Meeker County sheriff's deputies, Kimball Rescue and Mayo Ambulance all responded to the scene.
