Minor injuries in semi rollover near Paynesville

PAYNESVILLE — A semitractor-trailer rolled over after pulling over to do an inspection around 11:17 a.m. Tuesday on 185th Street and Stearns County Road 43 in Eden Lake Township near Paynesville, according to a Stearns County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The driver, Brain Luebke, 37, of New Germany, was westbound on 185th Street in his 2019 Mack semi pulling a feed trailer.

Luebke attempted to pull to the side of the road to conduct a walk-around vehicle inspection when the rear of the trailer started going into the ditch.

He tried to correct the trailer but was unable to. The semi and trailer overturned into the ditch and landed on the driver’s side.

Luebke was able to get himself out of the vehicle by climbing through the passenger window.

He was wearing his seat belt and suffered a few scrapes on his hands. He declined medical treatment.

Andy’s Towing removed the semitractor and trailer from the ditch.

Minnesota State Patrol assisted.

Arrest

WILLMAR — A 57-year-old man was arrested around 7:37 a.m. Wednesday on the 2500 block of Highway 12 East.

According to the report, the man was subject to a search warrant for a blood draw.

Truck vs. light pole

WILLMAR — A truck hit a light pole around 10:03 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Litchfield Avenue and Seventh Street Southwest.

According to the report, there were no injuries but the driver was cited for not having a Minnesota driver’s license and for operating a vehicle with expired registration.

Forgery

WILLMAR — Some counterfeit bills were reported around 2:17 p.m. Wednesday on the 1600 block of First Street South.

According to the report, a couple of people brought in $100 and $20 dollar counterfeit bills to a business.

Minor injuries after Starbuck officer collides with motorcycle

STARBUCK — A motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital following a collision with a Starbuck Police Department officer's vehicle around 7:27 p.m. July 4 on South Main Street, according to a Pope County Sheriff’s Office news release.

According to the release, Starbuck Police Officer Ryan Franks, 28, was traveling southbound on South Main Street when he witnessed a traffic violation from a vehicle driving northbound on the same road.

The news release states that Franks pulled to the right side of the road and attempted to make a U-turn with his emergency lights activated to pursue the vehicle.

As Franks was attempting to make a U-turn, he collided with a motorcycle driven by Dale Uhden, 60, of Alexandria, who was driving southbound on South Main Street.

Uhden suffered minor injuries, was treated at a local hospital and was released the same day.

Franks was not injured.

The case is under investigation by the Pope County Sheriff’s Office.

Two injured in ATV rollover in Dawson

DAWSON — Two people suffered injuries after their ATV rolled over around 2:36 p.m. July 4 at the intersection of 160th Street and 331st Avenue Southeast in Dawson., according to Lac qui Parle County Sheriff Allen Anderson.

According to Anderson, Trew Evenson, of Montevideo, and Bryce Abel, of Boyd, were riding in a side-by-side 2013 Can Am Commander when the vehicle left the road and rolled over.

The driver, Evenson, was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson with non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger, Abel, was also transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

The Lac qui Parle County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Dawson Ambulance, Boyd First Responder's and Dawson Police Department.
