Accident

NEW LONDON – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and state Highway 9 west of New London.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2016 Ford Escape driven by Tamara Mae Ruedebusch, 27, of Sartell, was going east on Highway 9 when it collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by Charles Edward Ampe, 64, of Belgrade, that was going north on Highway 71.

Ampe was taken to Carris – Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life-threatening injuries and Ruedebusch was taken to CentraCare Hospital in Paynesville with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Both individuals were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the accident report. Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, which was reported at 3:35 p.m.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Arrests

BELGRADE – A 29-year-old man was arrested at 1:39 a.m. Saturday in the 29000 block of U.S. Highway 71 Northeast.

WILLMAR – A 29-year-old man was arrested on domestic assault charges at 2:19 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Lakeland Drive Northeast in Willmar.

WILLMAR – A 25-year-old man was arrested at 2 a.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Prairie Lane Southwest in Willmar in connection with a possible case of domestic assault.

WILLMAR – A 26-year-old woman was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of First Street South in Willmar on drug-related charges.

WILLMAR – Following a traffic stop at 8:57 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of U.S. Highway 12 East in Willmar, a 25-year-old woman was arrested on a North Dakota warrant for being a fugitive from justice.

WILLMAR – A 27-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of First Street South in Willmar. The arrest was made following a traffic stop for having a vehicle with excessive window tint.

WILLMAR – A 37-year-old man was arrested on domestic assault-related charges at 4:02 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast in Willmar.

Assault

NEW LONDON – A report of domestic assault was filed at 8:03 a.m. Saturday at a residence in the 21000 block of 52nd Street Northeast in New London.

Cats dumped from vehicle

WILLMAR – Police took a report at 6:31 p.m. Friday that someone in a vehicle, described as a black Yukon XL, had thrown two cats out a window on U.S. Highway 71 South and 90th Avenue Southeast. The initial report indicated law enforcement was unable to locate the vehicle and that efforts were being made to find the cats.

Theft

SPICER – Theft of a Joe Biden political sign was reported at 9:31 a.m. Saturday from the 11000 block of North Shore Drive in Spicer.

Vandalism

WILLMAR – Police received a report at 5:19 p.m. Saturday of graffiti on High Avenue Northeast and Porto Rico Street Northeast in Willmar.

Accident update

MORGAN – A pedestrian who was injured Aug. 31 when struck by a vehicle in Redwood County is expected to undergo weeks of rehabilitation while recovering from injuries.

According to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Evelyn Urban, 59, of Morgan was walking in the northbound lane of Country Road 2 at around 9 p.m. on Aug. 31 when she was struck by a 2002 Subaru Outback, driven by Cory Faulds, 32, of Morgan, that was also traveling north.

Urban was flown from the scene by North Air Care.

In a news release Friday, Sept. 11, from the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, it was reported that family members informed the sheriff’s office that Urban will be spending several weeks in rehabilitation for her injuries.

There are currently no charges pending in the incident, according to the news release.

The Morgan Fire Department, North Memorial Air Care, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
