Charges dismissed

WILLMAR — Felony kidnapping and false imprisonment charges have been dismissed against Edgard Francisco Talavera-Latino, 46, of Willmar.

The Kandiyohi County Attorney’s Office said in January the charges couldn’t be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and dismissed the charges in the interests of justice.

Talavera-Latino was arrested in November after he was alleged to have refused to bring a man’s nephew to him.

Talavera-Latino had allegedly been hired to bring the man’s 14-year-old nephew to Willmar from Texas, but when they arrived, he told the uncle he wanted more money.

A police search Nov. 4 found the boy and returned him to his family. He was safe and unharmed, according to court records.

Talavera-Latino was later arrested in Stearns County. He told authorities that he was concerned about the boy and wasn’t sure the man who had hired him was actually the boy’s uncle.
