WILLMAR — A Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a high-speed pursuit reaching 130 mph Saturday evening.
At about 7:45 p.m. a deputy on routine patrol on U.S. Highway 71 saw a speeding vehicle traveling south on Highway 71 at 75th Avenue Southwest, about two miles south of the Willmar city limits, according to a release from Corporal Ted Argabright.
The vehicle was a white passenger car with slight front-end damage.
When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated. The deputy pursued the vehicle south on Highway 71 at speeds that reached about 130 mph.
At the roundabout at Highway 71 and Minnesota Highway 7, the vehicle headed west on Highway 7 at speeds nearly 120 mph. The pursuit was discontinued at 75th Street Southwest, midway between Roseland and Prinsburg.
The pursuit lasted for approximately 13 miles. The incident is under investigation.
