WILLMAR — A 28-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening on the 600 block of Ninth Street Southeast.

As of Monday afternoon, the man was listed as in custody in the Kandiyohi County Jail awaiting formal burglary, drugs and assault charges.

WILLMAR — An assault was reported Monday afternoon on the 2700 block of 30th Street Northeast.

Duck hunter in trouble

LAKE HASSEL — A 71-year-old Benson man called the Swift County Sheriff’s Office after his canoe started to take on water Sunday morning on Lake Hassel, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release, deputies responded with the Sheriff's Office boat found the man standing in the water in waders next to his waterlogged canoe.

The man was brought to shore and had no injuries except being cold from the water.

The Benson Police Department and Benson Ambulance also responded to the incident reported around 7 a.m. Sunday.

Fire under investigation after Willmar storage building, contents destroyed Monday

WILLMAR — One section of storage spaces and their contents were destroyed in a fire Monday in southwest Willmar.

The Willmar Fire Department along with CentraCare Emergency Medical Services were dispatched at 8:55 a.m. Monday to the 300 block of 28th Avenue Southwest on the report of a storage building on fire with no one around, according
