WILLMAR -- Crime Stoppers is offering a $400 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for using a tire iron to impale a dog in Kandiyohi County.

An anonymous resident has offered $200 in matching funds if other contributions are donated in the case.

A rural Hawick resident reported Monday that her German shorthair had returned home after "roaming the neighborhood" with a tire iron skewered through its side. The iron protruded about four inches on each side of the dog.

A veterinarian was able to remove the tire iron and the dog is apparently recovering, according to information from Crime Stoppers.

Donations to the fund may be made at Walt's in Willmar or the Lake Region Banks in New London, Sunburg and Willmar.
