VILLARD -- Darrell Eugene Pennie, 55, of Villard died Monday at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Villard United Methodist Church in Villard. Burial will be at Lake Leven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
He was born July 24, 1950, in Glenwood to Kenneth and Irene (Harmon) Pennie. He grew up on a farm in Villard and graduated from Villard High School in 1968. He attended Alexandria Technical School for one year and then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1970. He received an honorable discharge due to his father's death and was in the inactive reserves for four years.

He married Sharron Hoidahl in 1971. They lived in Coon Rapids. He worked at Butler Manufacturing in Minneapolis from 1972 to 1978 and at Grussing Roofing Company in Hopkins from 1978 until his death. He lived in the Twin Cities and in Villard.
He is survived by his children: Michelle (and Clint) Ryan of Ramsey, Duncan (and Kelly) Pennie of Clear Lake; four grandchildren; his mother: Irene Nelson of Villard; his wife of Coon Rapids; special friend: Jan Schulte of Villard; and siblings: Margaret Bagstad of Mission, Texas, and Maclaren Pennie of Villard.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather: Hildur Nelson; and one brother.
