UNION GROVE TOWNSHIP - A rural Darwin man is dead after a two-vehicle accident Wednesday on state Highway 4 in Union Grove Township.

Frederic Brown, 76, was driving north on state Highway 4 when he crossed over the centerline and struck a Freightliner semi, driven by Ricky Lahr, 28, of Paynesville.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Lahr was transported to the Paynesville Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol.

Meeker County deputies, Minnesota State Patrol, Paynesville Ambulance, and Paynesville Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Also assisting at the crash scene were the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and the Paynesville Police Department.
