DASSEL — A 29-year-old Dassel man was arrested following a police pursuit around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Meeker County Sheriff Brian Cruze.

According to a news release from Cruze, a sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on a reckless driver near the intersection of County Road 15 and County Road 29 in Collinwood Township.

The driver failed to stop and fled, with deputies pursuing the driver for approximately 26 miles before the vehicle was disabled by spike strips.

According to Cruze, as deputies drove up to the disabled vehicle, the man began to exit his vehicle with a shotgun in hand.

A deputy used his squad car to pin the driver door to prevent the man from exiting his vehicle.
