BENSON -- David Dwight Olson, 61, of Benson died Sunday at Homestead Place North in Benson.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Zion Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck. Burial will be at the Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
He was born Dec. 6, 1944, in Starbuck to Chester and Esther (Pederson) Olson. He grew up in Starbuck and graduated from Starbuck High School in 1962. He attended a program in small engine repair at Alexandria Technical College. He entered the National Guard in 1965 and was discharged in 1971.

He married LuAnn Douvier on July 22, 1967, in Glenwood. He worked for Haugen Johnson Implement in Benson for 22 years and for the Swift County Highway Department for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the Benson Lions Club, Northern Lights Snowmobile Club, and East Zion Lutheran Church. He was a member of 4-H and served as a 4-H leader. He was honored as a cancer survivor by Relay for Life in 2005.
He is survived by his wife; son: Michael of Benson; and siblings: Charles (and Lois) Olson of Inver Grove Heights, Sanford (and Clara) Olson of Alexandria, Neil Olson of Raleigh, N.C., Beverly (and Kenny) Fischer of Eagan, Sandra (and Kenny) Hoff of Inver Grove Heights, Janet (and Richard) Lundebrek of Benson, Ruth (and Don) Schwankee of Buffalo, and Naomi (and Fred) Anderson of Starbuck.
He was preceeded in death by one brother.
