SAUK RAPIDS -- David L. Thurston, 61, of Sauk Rapids died Tuesday at his home after an extended illness.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Dingmann Family Funeral Chapel in Sauk Rapids. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery near Little Falls.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer at 6:30 p.m. by Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born May 30, 1946, in Olivia to Charles and Jennie Bell (Morse) Thurston.
He married Betty Gunn on April 29, 1972, in St. Cloud. He was a Vietnam veteran and worked at DeZurik Corporation for 29 years.

He was a member of Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254.
He is survived by his wife; children: Corey Thurston of Sauk Rapids, Michele Madigan of Kimball; sisters: Mary Breem of Willmar, Ruth Miller of Charleston, S.C., Janette Negen of Olivia, Salma Malecek of Madison, Wis., Carol Lietzau of Burnsville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
