WILLMAR -- Dean Roger Matson, 55, of Willmar, formerly of the Blomkest and Svea area, died Monday at Rice Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Svea Lutheran Church in Svea.Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
He was born Sept. 1, 1951, in Willmar to Roger and Beatrice (Swenson) Matson. He grew up in Svea and graduated from Willmar High School in 1969. He attended Willmar Vo-Tech College and graduated from the auto mechanics program in 1971. He worked at the Blomkest Body Shop for a short time and then worked on the family farm. He moved to Rice Care Center in 2003, due to declining health.

He is survived by one sister: Debra (and Jerry) Negen of Blomkest; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
