GLENWOOD -- A distraught ex-boyfriend apparently killed his former girlfriend in rural Starbuck and then killed himself early Sunday.
After receiving information about a possible homicide, Pope County Sheriff Tom Larson and a deputy went to the home of Linda Jean Klyve, 47. The home is in rural Starbuck in Rolling Forks Township, south of Starbuck and a few miles north of the Swift County line.
They found Klyve dead in her home of an apparent gunshot wound.
Klyve appeared to have died early Sunday morning, Larson said in a telephone interview Sunday evening.
About 2 p.m. Sunday, searchers found the body of Gary Alfred Wrobleski, 46, of Benson. He had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found in a wooded area outside Benson.

"What we're seeing is consistent with a homicide and a suicide," Larson said.
The couple had broken up recently, though some of the details were still under investigation, he said.
The couple apparently did not have a history of domestic violence. "There were no calls to our office," Larson said.
Larson referred to Wrobleski as a "distraught ex-boyfriend, upset he was no longer in the relationship."
Local law enforcement learned of the homicide at 6:42 a.m. Sunday in a rather complicated way, Larson said.
Wrobleski apparently called someone he knew in Minneapolis and spoke of the incident. That person called 911. Minneapolis Police contacted the Swift County Sheriff's Office, which in turn called Pope County.
Several law enforcement agencies took part in the search and investigation Sunday. In addition to the Pope County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff's Posse, the Swift County Sheriff's Office, the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators and crime lab, the Department of Natural Resources Air Wing and the State Patrol participated.
