RAYMOND -- Tom DeBoer and the Raymond Rockets won a pitching dual with the Willmar Rails at Lilleberg Field 2-1 on Sunday evening.
All the scoring was in the first inning. DeBoer went the route, allowing five hits, walking five and fanning six. The Rails' run scored on an error.
Rails' starter Jason Scheffler was equally sharp. He checked the Rockets on three hits while walking two. Cody Scott finished up with two innings of one-hit relief.
Tyler Horning doubled to start the game, stole third and sped home when the catcher's throw went into left field.
Raymond retaliated in the bottom of the frame. Mike Jeseritz reached on an error, Jed Nelson was hit by a pitch, and then a Mike Kragenbring's single plated Jeseritz. Nelson came home on a fielder's choice.

Raymond (11-4, 15-6) clinched second in the Cornbelt South with the win. Willmar (9-5, 9-5) saw its four-game win streak end.

Jeremy Elkjer went the first seven and Brian Kingery pitched the last two innings in a shutout for the Chuckers (10-11 overall).
With the victory, Atwater finishes 9-7 in the Cornbelt North to tie Starbuck for first place. Paynesville ends up 5-11 in the North after also losing to Granite Falls on Saturday night.

Luke Wallace's first of two singles drove in Zach Cunningham, who had walked, for Atwater's first run. Matt Tanner, who went 3-for-5, belted a run-scoring double in the Chuckers' three-run seventh inning.
Elkjer gave up seven hits and three walks. Losing pitcher Ryan Hess went all eight innings, finishing with a 10-hitter with six walks.
The North holds its seeding meeting on Tuesday in Brooten.
