BENSON -- Delores Henrietta Schendel, 88, of Starbuck, formerly of Benson, died Wednesday at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.
She was born May 17, 1917, in Benson to J.S. and Alma (Halvorson) Lee. She grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School. She graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield in 1939. She taught school in Petersburg, N.D., Brooten and Danube.

She married Maynard Schendel on June 30, 1944, in Benson. They lived and farmed in rural Danube. They moved to Benson in 1952. They operated and became part owners of Lee's Store in Benson. Maynard died in 1969. She moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck in 1996.
She was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson, active with the church women, and directed the junior choir at the church for many years. She was also a member of GFWC in Benson.
She is survived by her children: DeAnn (and Greg) Faust of Moorhead, Michael (and Karen) Schendel of Stephen, Keith (and Jacqueline) Schendel of Shoreview; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister: Barbara (and Richard) Denfeld of Bumpass, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.
