SPICER -- Dennis "Denny" Burns, 64, of Spicer died Monday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hope Presbyterian Church, rural Spicer. Burial will be in the Spicer City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
He was born Dec. 14, 1943, in Spicer to Clarence and Martha (Swart) Burns. He grew up in the Spicer area and attended Willmar High School.
He married Beverly DeCatheleneau on April 17, 1962, in Willmar. He worked as an over-the-road trucker, tandem trucker, and other jobs, but mostly as a heavy equipment operator.

He married Carol Gehrke on Aug. 22, 1998, in Spicer. They lived in Spicer. He retired in 2007.
He was a member of many pool and dart leagues.
He is survived by his second wife; children: Daniel (and Toni) Burns of Raymond, Dave (and Becky) Burns of Dell Rapids, S.D., Wayne (and Jacqueline) Burns of Little Falls, Kelly (and Mark) Olmscheid of Belgrade, Amy Burns of Willmar; step-children: Rick (and Jo) Gehrke of Monticello, Steve (and Laurie) Gehrke of Spicer, Troy (and Cathy) Gehrke of Hendersonville, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Margaret (and Gaylord) Pederson of Willmar, Martha (and Roger) Braun of St. Francis, John (and Rose) Burns of Sunburg, Jack Burns of Springdale, Utah, and Cheryl Hegreberg of Becker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepmother: Grace, a toddler sister; and a granddaughter.
