ATWATER -- Dennis Hovey, 68, of Atwater, died Friday at the Sunny View Assisted Living in Atwater.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Atwater Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1938, on the family farm south of Atwater to Irvin and Martha (Johnson) Hovey. He grew up in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School in 1957. He farmed until he retired in 1995 and moved into Atwater. He was an active member of his church, was a member of the Atwater Lions and a volunteer with the nutrition site, meals on wheels and the block nurse program.

He is survived by his special friend: Darlene Jacobs of Atwater; and eight siblings: Lloyd (and Darleen) Hovey, Allen Hovey, Sharon (and John) Holm, Glen (and Marsha) Hovey, all of Atwater; Merilyn Johnson of St. Paul, Shirley (and Paul) Peterson of Cosmos, Twyla (and James) Ashburn of Spicer and Wyman (and Linda) Hovey of Dewey, Ill..
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
